The natural way of getting pregnant is nothing but the game of hormones and several related glands. It all starts with the Hypothalamus, a region of the brain that's placed right above the Pituitary gland. When hypothalamus releases Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), in both male and female cases, the hormone stimulates pituitary gland to produce Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Where in case of men the production of hormones is quite constant the hormones are produced, in women, in a rhythmic way to control the menstrual cycle and mid-cycle kind of things.
To explain with quite simple language the job of LH and FSH is to stimulate the ovary in female and testicles in male. They helps getting the egg out of ovary in case of women and sperms are created with their help in men. When an excited man releases his semen carrying enough number of spermatozoa or sperms inside the vagina the sperms starts swimming to get close to the matured egg. If the menstrual cycle is well calculated to get united and to conceive by means of that, the egg gets fertilized by the most capable sperm and thus the woman becomes pregnant. If there's any deficiency in men creating sperms the rate of working hormones increases and the same thing happens with women. Thus the rate of secretion of hormone increases with the increasing age also as the body still fights to get the last possible eggs or sperms. If in any case the hypothalamus is destroyed there will be no GnRH reaching the pituitary and thus the pituitary will cease producing FSH and LH. As a result the production of eggs and sperms will never be possible and they will become infertile. |
